My name is Karen Wilson and I have been studying and practising yoga for over 10 years here and in America.
My training is recognised by the British Wheel of Yoga, Yoga Alliance and the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). I am also fully insured.
My classes incorporate the philosophy of hatha yoga with the asana (postural work) and prananyama (breath control). I teach mixed ability classes, private on-to-one yoga, pregnancy, postnatal, baby yoga and baby massage. (Please check out these pages for more details.)
I started practising in Chicago as a means of meeting people whilst I was on assignment with my job. On my return to the UK I continued my practice, attending various classes whilst continuing my corporate job. In 2009 I decided to re-order my life and combine my passion for yoga with the desire for a ‘career’. I left my 9-5 job and started my teaching diploma. I started teaching my first class a year into my course – 10 years on and I haven’t looked back once!
I have been undertaking professional development in yoga for cancer (those undergoing treatment, post surgery and carer support), long covid and chronic fatigue syndrome as well as additional studies in menstrual cycle awareness and knee rehabilitation.
The last 10 years has seen a lot of change through my life, relocations, job changes, studying, pregnancy, motherhood and even the way in which I practise yoga. However yoga has been with me throughout both on and off the mat regardless of how small a time I can manage to fit in. The yoga philosophy has helped me come to understand and manage these changes and the time of my mat has helped me to hold onto something concrete whilst also understanding that even my yoga practise has to adapt with life.
I am a mum of 2, a primary teacher with a specialism in physical education and an MA in early years physical development, and a Militray wife! I did both baby massage and baby yoga with my children and we continue to use the techniques and movements today! I loved the planned time and space to have that quality time with each child in times when everyone is so busy!
Happy Baby Class. Parent and Baby Nurturing Massage Class that is fun, relaxed, provides quality time for you both and includes a progression of massage techniques. We also include gentle exercises for parents and babies, relaxation techniques as well as rhymes and songs. Our final part of the session we provide an opportunity to have a drink and chat with other parents. A safe environment brining parents and babies together and. crating time and space for bonding.
Mountain Class. Parent and Baby Yoga class with elements of dry massage. This is a Yoga class for both parents and baby. A progression from the Happy Baby class with gentle stretches, movements and breathing exercises for parents, and we integrate simple yoga moves for babies and progress these and match the level and age to the baby’s needs. We use songs and rhymes and watch for babies cues. Opportunity for drinks and chat at the end part of session.
Tree Class, Parent and Baby Yoga class for Tots, walkers and up. Using song, stories, themes and movement to provide yoga for parent and child. A great tool for stretching little bodies, learning words, colours, songs and stories and relating words to movement. Built in time for relaxation practice.
Classes are in blocks but pay as you go sessions can be pre-booked.
Recommend a friend and you get a session free!
Baby yoga classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30am.
I also teach pregnancy yoga, please email me to book.
Baby yoga is great for your baby’s physical, neurological and social development. We gently assist their movement to harness their natural reflexes and curiosity, we also include some baby massage. Baby yoga is great for soothing babies, releasing frustration and helping with mood and sleep.
Part of the class will be postnatal yoga (adapted for dads/carers). We strengthen pelvic floor and gently build core strength, release tight muscles and learn simple breathing practices for relaxation.
It’s a lovely way to bond and move together with your baby at the same time as meeting local mums / parents.
If you find you want to rest or feed for most of the class that is absolutely welcome.
“My baby loves Georgia’s classes – even on days when she is overtired, as soon as the class starts she is all smiles and giggles. The yoga classes are definitely her happy place!” – Jennie
Sarah Brannen started Warm Hearts Yoga in 2013, when she was looking for a local yoga class that she could attend with her young daughter. Sarah is a registered 200 hour yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.
Warm Hearts Yoga specialises in postnatal yoga, parent and baby yoga and yoga for families, as well as offering traditional yoga classes for adults.
Sarah originally trained with Birthlight and Rainbow Yoga, specialising in baby yoga, postnatal yoga, yoga for toddlers, children and families. She went on to study with CYS for her 200hr Yoga teaching qualification and with Uma Dinsmore Tuli’s Womb Yoga for an additional 40 hour postnatal and family yoga qualification.
Sarah passionately believes that yoga can provide so much more than strength, flexibility and fitness. She has found it has helped her to find a sense of calm amidst the chaos, to remain steady through the constant change, to love and accept herself, and to find a path to follow that feels right.
