Course Description | Our intensive integrated online training, combines Nurturing Baby Massage, Baby Yoga and Interactive Yoga with babies for parents/carers. Integral to offering baby massage and baby yoga practices, participants learn to support each baby in their developmental stage and each parent in their parenting journey to confidently hold and move around with their baby in a way that is less strain on the parent’s body. This is especially important for new mums in their postnatal recovery.
Relaxed, fun interactive sessions help in reducing stress and anxiety for both baby and parent/carer supporting and strengthening the bonding process between them. Simple tension easing stretches and movements for the parents are included along with some very simple appropriate practices for postnatal recovery. We teach various ways for parents to relax with their baby as a mutually beneficial activity – walking, sitting, feeding even lying down. Dropping worries and the ‘to do’ list for a few minutes can help parents rekindle their energy for the rest of the day when sleep is so often lacking in the early months of parenting. For professionals working with new families providing early support through baby massage can help build regular contact times evolving into baby yoga sessions as babies grow and develop. For families of babies born prematurely this can provide a ‘catch up’ time for them and their baby at their corrected age with the added bonus of building parent confidence after a challenging and stressful start. Classes and sessions can be given on an individual basis but in a circle of other parent and baby pairs interactions and connections are facilitated, experiences shared and friendships are often formed. For more details see: https://birthlight.com/baby-yoga/ This course is taught livestream on Zoom, this training also includes online learning, ensuring that students can review, practice, deepen and test their skills and knowledge beyond the course contact hours. The supporting resources are substantial and will involve an investment of time and commitment alongside the live interactive contact, and will enable you to create a professional range of enjoyable sessions of nurturing baby massage and baby yoga for babies from 4 weeks to pre-mobile. Contents can be adapted to suit your families’ and groups’ needs or individual pairs. All live online sessions are recorded and you will have access to them for at least 12 months. There is coursework to be completed following the course, including a case study for 4 sessions, all of the forms for which are provided. Ideally this coursework is completed within six months following the course but you have a year to submit it. Extensions after that will be given at the tutor’s discretion. If you wish to add the mobile Baby Yoga curriculum at a later date you can join the second weekend of the Baby Yoga Diploma course. |
