Special baby yoga short course / cpd (2 days)
Baby yoga requires adaptations in order to best assist the development of special babies and their enjoyment of movement as it is possible for them. Yoga with special babies and toddlers creates a great deal of mutual joy by enhancing positive body-based interactions between special babies and their parents.
Who is this course for?
This two day intensive short course is open to health professionals working with babies, baby yoga teachers, yoga teachers working with special children, infant massage instructors and complementary therapists.
Applicants who do not hold a Birthlight Baby Yoga Certification are required to complete a bridging module in order to enable them to gain sufficient background for the course.
This short course has been designed by Birthlight Baby Yoga teacher Jay Ehrlich, to help baby yoga teachers and other professionals assist parents in discovering the potential of babies with a variety of special needs. The course also provides tools to aid inclusion of special babies within mainstream baby yoga or other baby group settings.
The course imparts relevant information on various special needs and disabilities including DVD footage. Practical sessions and adapted lessons and posture tips for babies with special needs are taught with direct tutor input and hands-on experience. The course covers case studies on babies with reflux, Downs syndrome, cardiac difficulties, cerebral palsy and visual and hearing impairments. The manual supplied with this course covers all aspects and lesson plans for the above special needs.
How is this course assessed?
This course is tutor assessed by means of a practical and a worksheet. Qualification is conditional to satisfactory completion of the worksheet no later than six months after the course.
What qualification is gained on this course?
Course participants receive a Certificate of Training in Special Baby Yoga, which entitles them to integrate special babies and toddlers in baby yoga classes or to offer one to one sessions to parents of special babies or toddlers. The course may contribute to CPD.
