Birthlight supports a variety of teaching rather than imposing a set format for classes of pregnancy yoga. Large classes are discouraged because they are not conducive to the quality of teaching that is the hallmark of Birthlight. The distinctive feature of birthlight classes is that they are taught in a circle whenever possible. Classes range from one hour to two hours and they are held at all times of day. Prices vary according to teacher, location and venue.
Birthlight yoga for pregnancy does not stop at B day. The weeks following birth complete pregnancy as a ‘fourth trimester’ during which yoga can help new mothers to re-own their bodies and to get more comfortable in handling their babies. Birthlight teachers are trained to offer post-birth individual sessions to new mothers who attended their pregnancy classes. Birthlight birth recovery vouchers are obtainable from birthlight teachers or directly through the birthlight website. Post-birth one to one sessions facilitate the transition between pregnancy yoga classes and postnatal mother and baby yoga classes that new mothers can join at any time when they feel ready after giving birth.
