Perinatal yoga training in Beijing

My first Birthlight Perinatal yoga course given in Beijing was such a gift. The women attending the course had asked Grace Zhou to organise one and the students were so eager for the prenatal Birthlight course to start.

Living four years in China taught me a lot about the culture and on top of that, my tutor trainings in Shanghai with Jane Collins helped me even more to understand and acknowledge the women’s concerns, hopes and wishes. Jane Collins prepared me very well for the Birthlight course in Beijing through her mentoring, she was ready to answer any questions that I had, while teaching the Beijing course to the new students, through ‘Watsapp’. It was absolutely great to feel the support and the guidance of Jane throughout my tutoring and with my first ‘go-at-it-alone-course’. I wasn’t nervous; I was just extremely excited and happy to get the chance to teach the prenatal course on my own in Beijing.

I remember times in my tutoring that I felt so ready to teach and yet thought I wasn’t. I prepared extra well for the Birthlight course in Beijing, the Birthlight manual is a delight to use and conveys the teachings very well. All the other things I still felt a bit uncertain about, those were the things I looked up in anatomy books, Youtube videos and asked Jane. Luckily, I also had the chance to watch Kirsteen in Holland, just right before my trip to Beijing, which also helped to make things easier for me.

Something else that boosted my confidence was my Birthlight prenatal workshop in Bangalore, India to a small group of women; they were so delighted with the wisdom of Birthlight. You can tell when students are humbled by the teachings of Birthlight and the application of the teachings. This also applied to the students in Beijing, happy faces, lots of questions and laughter. For me, it is good to see, that the Birthlight courses brings women together, specifically, yoga teachers, working together, sharing their knowledge with the group, building a new community and starting a movement. I am humble for the opportunity that Grace Zhou, Jane Collins and Birthlight gave to me, sending me out to teach my first prenatal Birthlight course. I truly enjoyed teaching the course in Beijing, I had so much fun with the women, learning from them and building bonds for a lifetime of generations.
