Shawn Tomlinson speaking at STA Conference 2016
Shawn Tomlinson, Birthlight Aquatic Tutor and Neuro Developmental Delay Therapist, will be speaking at the STA Conference 2016 which is being held on Saturday 1 October in Walsall.
The title of Shawn's seminar is 'Developing Attunement and Synesthesia through Water Parenting in an Aquatic Environment'
The concept and practices of Water Parenting as developed by Birthlight’s founder Francoise Freedman and Birthlight tutors has as its primary desire, to support parents and children throughout their aquatic journey.
An integral part of this journey is providing the optimum environment where attunement between parent and child can occur through the spoken or unspoken dialogue. This is synesthesia. This seminar will explore the role of the swimming teacher in actively facilitating this environment in which continuous bonding can occur and how this should develop and change as the baby grows.
We will look at practices and activities, including how gentle and elective submersions transform the adult and child's aquatic experience and place these within the context of child development.
This presentation will contain a mixture of theory and practices to help teachers enhance their teaching practices. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the presentation.
