Light on Parenting Conference - Sat 5 - Sun 6 May 2012, London
“Light on Parenting: from conception to the early years” is this year's Birthlight conference. It is a truly unique conference aimed at parents and those who are passionate about their work with parents, children, and around pregnancy and birth.
The conference will focus on the whole spectrum of early parenting – from conception through birth to the early childhood years.
We have brought together world renowned experts in family and child psychology, psychobiology, education and parenting, midwifery, prenatal and birth therapy to present:
the scientific research
practical parenting methods, and
interactive workshops for profound personal growth and healing.
The conference is co-organised by Francoise Freedman and Magda Jenkins.
The way we parent our children has a tremendous impact on the individuals they will become. When we parent with love, from the place of awareness and connectedness, our children’s innate potential to become loving, emotionally connected and fulfilled simply unfolds. This is not limited to the singular family units-the collective impact of parenting shapes the future of whole communities, countries and the world in which we live.
“Light on Parenting: from conception to the early years” carries a very timely and meaningful message, and opportunities for a profound change in the way we think about and do parenting.
The keynote speaker, Robin Grille, will be coming from Sydney to talk about parenting for a peaceful world and also to run an experiential workshop for parents, connecting them to the time when they were children themselves.
Other renowned speakers and workshop facilitators include:
Naomi Aldort, the author of Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves, will talk about enhancing communication with our children. She will also run a practical workshop on praise.
Margot Sunderland and Suzanne Zeedyk are both psychologists who help us understand the workings and the development of children’s brains and how interaction with our children enables them to become more connected and able to experience more fulfilled lives.
Mavis Kirkham is a midwife whose work focuses on the effect of birth on mother-baby bonding.
We also have Menis Yousry of the Essence Foundation, Françoise Freedman, Vivette Glover, David Haas, Patrick Houser and Naomi Stadlen.
Speakers’ biographies are detailed on the conference website along with the programme.
The conference will take place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 May 2012 at the Institute of Child Health in central London. As this is a non-profit-making event, the cost of tickets is being kept as low as possible to make the conference accessible to as many people as possible.
